Customized Corporate Outing for an NYC DMC

At Like a Local Tours, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional, tailored experiences for corporate clients and Destination Management Companies (DMCs). Our recent collaboration with a NYC based DMC serves as a compelling example of our capabilities in creating unforgettable outings.

Client Overview

The DMC approached us to orchestrate a unique experience for a luxury incentive trip for the winners of a large financial company. The event involved multiple waves of 400 attendees who sought a culturally immersive experience in New York City. Our challenge was to design a private tour that highlighted the iconic neighborhoods of Lower Manhattan, specifically the Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Little Italy, while accommodating varying group sizes across different days.

Identifying the Challenge

The expectation from our client was high, as these award winners anticipated a luxury and exclusive experience. We had to consider several logistical factors:

  • Flexible Group Sizes: With up to 400 participants spread across two waves, we needed to ensure that each group could enjoy a seamless experience without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Cultural and Culinary Experience: The tour had to artfully blend food, culture, and history to engage attendees while celebrating New York’s rich immigrant heritage.
  • Day-of Logistics: We understood that impeccable timing and communication on the day of the event were crucial for flawless execution.

Our Solution: Customized Tour

To meet the DMC’s needs, we crafted a customized Immigrant New York Food Tour that included:

  • Group Size & Flow: We divided attendees into manageable groups, accommodating 64 guests per day and splitting them into 4 groups of 16. This allowed a total of 128 participants to enjoy the tour each day, with every group exploring slightly different routes while visiting the same iconic landmarks and food stops.
  • Expert Storytelling: Each group was led by a private guide—an experienced storyteller who shared fascinating narratives about the history of the neighborhoods, from the stories of Jewish immigrants in the Lower East Side to the vibrant Chinese community in Chinatown.
  • Memorable Conclusion: We reunited all groups at the legendary Katz’s Deli, creating a shared experience that capped off the day on a high note.
  • Upgraded Service: To enhance the guest experience further, food runners were stationed at each stop, managing pre-orders to ensure smooth service and fast serving times.
