Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is a 16 building, 6 million commercial square foot redevelopment, with 5 acres of open space. It is the largest privately funded adaptive reuse project in the country.
With amazing restaurants, shops, artist studios, co-working spaces and more, locals and visitors alike can explore for hours on end. Originally built in 1906 as a intermodal shipping facility to support manufacturing and distribution of products, it served as an important industrial site, but over the years manufacturing evolved and left the city, the site fell into disrepair. In 2015, the buildings that comprise Industry City were purchased by the same developers as Chelsea Market.
There is so much to see on campus. Let Like a Local Tours do all the work. A couple savory tastings, a couple sweet tastings, plus we go behind the scenes on the ground floor and upstairs. We finish with a beer tasting at Big aLICe Brewing and with a chance to shop the goods we’ve seen in the making (with special discounts!).
